Shutter Island: It's 1954, and up-and-coming U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Boston's Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. He's been pushing for an assignment on the island for personal reasons, but before long he wonders whether he hasn't been brought there as part of a twisted plot by hospital doctors whose radical treatments range from unethical to illegal to downright sinister. Teddy's shrewd investigating skills soon provide a promising lead, but the hospital refuses him access to records he suspects would break the case wide open. As a hurricane cuts off communication with the mainland, more dangerous criminals "escape" in the confusion, and the puzzling, improbable clues multiply, Teddy begins to doubt everything - his memory, his partner, even his own sanity. |

Wasn't expecting this movie to have a lot of twist and the ending was amazing. Leonardo DiCaprio always gives a great performance and looks like he is outshining the other actors.

A good cast. Leonardo DiCaprio always gives his all in movies & this one is no exception. Everyone knows that Martin Scorsese is a genius. The plot was going just fine until towards the end. I'm not a fan of Mystery Thrillers, so I can't honestly say I enjoyed it

i like how it keeps you guessing and its definitely a surprise ending i loved this movie but seriously this was like raping my brain! its kinda confusing, you just reallly have to pay attention, even to the little things. 10/10

Very compelling film and a definite head fuck. Leaves you wondering what reality is which is a lost definition after all, while bathing in the digressions of the mind---->. Spoilers of all kinds may lay ahead>> Seeming to send the message that conspiracy theorist are parodied delusional-s further entwining the current political fog with the "wand of holly-wood" ....-- As some other comments have said: If you've seen or read 1984 this will come as no surprise(1984 along with brave new world seems to represent a blue print for modern society, i know that in France drugs proscribed under the authority of "designated brain Malide's" could potential diagnose everyone as insane, also true of america, with americas new right system aka: you have none, they can force you to take them. Although with whitewashing marketing campaigns you line up to get them). This film has a factual base and helps, one would think, to not negate are history, for if it is forgotten it will inevitably happen again like a child who forgets the iron burns. A good follow up to this and equally compelling is "Psychiatry Industry Of Death" a very informative documentary on psychiatry.

GREAT MOVIE!!!....Dicaprio is by far 1 of the best thesbians of his time....Scorsese is by far 1 of the best directors of his time...."Departed" anyone?....

For any reader of nineteen eighty-four, this movie ought to be nothing more then a reminder. Things like electroshock therapy and lobotomy are not something exclusive to the past. Whether or not a doctor can force, or otherwise manufacture concent, in order to perform these intrusive and outlandish techniques on other human subjects, some of the methods will continue to evolve, while others fall victim to their own cause.

Wow! What an intense, twisting tale. Kept me guessing till the very end. Easily 4/5. Very solid, excellent performances by all.

Great thriller with a unusual twist, very atmospheric and moody, decaprio does a good job on this one, a must for all fans. 4/5

I really liked Shutter Island. It definitely didn't turn out the way I originally thought it would. In the beginning, the plot had me going along with DiCaprio's character and in the end, I was second-guessing every time the plot unfolded. Though after a while, I started to get what the twist was because certain things didn't add up. I would highly recommend this movie if you like suspenseful and eerie. The acting was decent and well worth watching again maybe once more to get the full impact. I give it an 8/10.
